a) Introduction
The Galaxy S21 isn’t the star of Samsung’s S series in 2021 like we’ve been used to for most of the past decade, but it’s a solid smartphone choice with an impressive camera, powerful internals, and great battery life. Samsung Galaxy S21 5G is Samsung’s lower-cost flagship phone. If you want support for the S Pen, the S21 Ultra 5G is the model to purchase. However, if you like a smaller phone that is also extremely capable, then the S21 5G may satisfy your needs.
The only differences between the high-end S21 Ultra 5G and the S21 5G are the display size and resolution, camera specifications, RAM/storage options, S Pen functionality, and battery capacity.

c) Design
The Galaxy S21 looks a lot like the Galaxy S20 from the front, with its 6.2-inch display complete with a selfie camera in the top middle of the screen. Its dimension is 151.7 x 71.2 x 7.9 mm (5.97 x 2.80 x 0.31 in). Its weight is 169 g (Sub6), 171 g (mmWave) (5.96 oz). The Galaxy S21 is a bit smaller yet a little heavier than the Galaxy S20 (5.9 x 3 x 0.31, 5.7 ounces). But I think it is the ideal size and weight for one-hand use.
This phone is the smallest member of the Galaxy S21 family. If you want a larger phone, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus comes with a larger screen, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra has the largest screen of the whole series. Both of these handsets are more expensive, though.
Its new contour cut camera design and classic rear with a matte finish are outstanding. You may feel this phone is premium, but not as high-end as S21 Ultra.
Aluminum frame has been used in this phone with Glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus) and plastic back.
d) Display
The Galaxy S21’s display is fantastic. Samsung has downgraded and upgraded the Galaxy S21’s 6.2-inch AMOLED display from what the S20 previously featured. The S21 allows dropping its refresh rate from 120Hz to 48Hz, depending on the task at hand. Its resolution is 1080 x 2400 pixels, and the ratio is 20:9 (~421 PPI density). You no longer have to choose between a full HD+ resolution running at 120Hz or a QHD running at 60Hz, as you did with the Galaxy S20, but that’s because the S21 tops out at 1080p resolution.

Main Camera – The Galaxy S21 cameras are exactly the same as the Galaxy S20. The triple camera array comprises a main 12MP wide-angle lens with f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.76″, 1.8µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55″ 1.4µm, Super Steady video and a 64MP telephoto lens with f/2.0, 29mm (telephoto), 1/1.72″, 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 1.1x optical zoom, 3x hybrid zoom. The extra features are LED flash, auto-HDR, and panorama.
For video, you’ve got the option of 8K at 24 frames per second, which offers maximum quality and detail, but which we found to be a touch too cropped for our liking. More usefully, there’s also 4K at 30 and 60 frames per second, as well as Full HD at 30, 60, and 240fps. Moreover, HDR10+, stereo sound recording, gyro-EIS have been used in this phone.
Selfie camera – The selfie camera is 10 MP with f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1/3.24″, 1.22µm, Dual Pixel PDAF. The 10MP selfie camera on the front of the phone is less headline-grabbing, but it proved capable enough during our testing. With the world increasingly staying in touch via video calls in this era of lockdowns, you’ll find this camera is up to the task, and we found it gave us some great selfie results too. By using the selfie camera you can make a Dual video call. For video, you have got 4K at 30 and 60fps and full HD (1080p) at 30fps.
f) Specs and performance
The Galaxy S21 phones are the first devices to use the latest generation of chipsets: either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 (US) or Samsung’s own Exynos 2100 (just about everywhere else). Its operating system is Android 11, One UI 3.1.

g) Battery life
Li-Ion 4000 mAh, non-removable battery has been used in this phone. Battery life on the Samsung Galaxy S21 is solid, although it’s not a game-changing improvement over the S20, as the company may have led some to believe with its new Exynos 2100 chipset. Fast charging is on offer over the USB-C PD standard, juicing up the battery to 55% in 30 minutes in our testing. The problem is, you need to make sure you have a charging brick to hand, as Samsung only puts the USB-C cable in the box. If you don’t have a charger then Samsung will sell you a 25W charger.
h) Our Verdict
Samsung’s Galaxy S21 is a more refined, smarter and crucially cheaper than Samsung’s Galaxy S21 ultra.

It is cheaper and lighter than the Samsung s20. If you do not need S Pen functionality, this phone is much better than the Samsung s21 Ultra.
