Prime Scan (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) is a document scanning application that allows users to capture images of documents, process scanned images, perform optional text recognition (OCR), and create PDF files from scanned documents.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how Prime Scan handles information when you use the App.
1. Information We Access
Depending on the features you use and the permissions granted by you, Prime Scan may access the following:
Camera
Prime Scan requests access to your device’s camera to allow you to capture photographs of documents for scanning and PDF creation.
Camera access is used only when you choose to use the scanning or document capture functionality. Prime Scan does not use the camera to continuously monitor you or capture images without your action.
Photos, Documents, and Files
When you choose to import, save, open, or export documents, Prime Scan may access files that you select or files that the operating system makes available to the App.
This access is used to provide document scanning, image processing, PDF creation, and document management functionality.
OCR and Text Recognition
Prime Scan may provide Optical Character Recognition (OCR) functionality to recognize text from scanned documents.
OCR processing may occur on your device using integrated OCR technology and language data. If OCR processing is performed locally, the document images and recognized text are processed on your device and are not automatically transmitted to our servers by the OCR feature.
2. Internet Access
Prime Scan may request Internet access for specific app functionality, including downloading required OCR language data or other resources needed for supported features.
Prime Scan does not require Internet access to perform basic document scanning and PDF creation when all necessary resources are already available on your device.
If the App downloads OCR language data or other resources, the request is made to obtain the required files for the selected functionality.
3. Document and Personal Content
Documents scanned or imported through Prime Scan may contain personal, confidential, or sensitive information.
Prime Scan is designed to allow users to create and manage scanned documents and PDF files. Users are responsible for the content of documents they scan, import, store, or share.
Unless otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy or required to provide a specific feature, Prime Scan does not intentionally collect or sell the content of your scanned documents for advertising or marketing purposes.
You should avoid scanning or storing highly sensitive information unless you understand how your device and any other applications or services you use may handle that information.
4. How Your Information Is Used
Information and content accessed by Prime Scan may be used to:
- Capture document images using your device’s camera.
- Process and enhance scanned document images.
- Convert images into PDF documents.
- Recognize text using OCR functionality, when requested.
- Download OCR language data required for text recognition.
- Save, open, organize, or export documents according to your actions.
- Provide and improve the functionality of the App.
Prime Scan does not use your scanned documents for unrelated advertising or marketing purposes.
5. Data Storage
Prime Scan may store scanned images, PDF files, OCR-related data, and application preferences on your device, depending on the features you use.
Files created or saved by Prime Scan may remain on your device or in a storage location selected by you until you delete or move them.
Prime Scan does not automatically guarantee backup or recovery of your documents. If you delete files or uninstall the App, documents stored in app-specific storage may be deleted depending on your device and operating system settings.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of important documents.
6. Data Sharing
Prime Scan does not sell your personal information or scanned document content to third parties.
Prime Scan does not intentionally share the contents of your scanned documents with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
If the App uses third-party services in the future, information may be shared with those providers only as necessary to provide their services, comply with applicable law, protect the security of the App, or fulfill other legitimate purposes disclosed to you.
Any third-party service used by the App may process information according to its own privacy policy and terms.
7. Third-Party Libraries and Open-Source Components
Prime Scan uses third-party and open-source libraries to provide functionality such as:
- Camera access and camera preview.
- Image processing and document enhancement.
- Computer vision and image analysis.
- PDF creation and processing.
- Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
- Android user interface components.
- Local data storage and preferences.
- Application functionality and performance.
These libraries are integrated to support the features of Prime Scan. Some libraries may process information locally on your device as part of providing their functionality.
Prime Scan does not intentionally use third-party libraries to collect or sell the contents of your scanned documents for advertising purposes.
A list of applicable open-source and third-party libraries and their licenses may be available within the App through the “About” or “Open Source Licenses” section.
8. Permissions Used by Prime Scan
Prime Scan requests only the permissions necessary to provide its features.
Camera Permission
Permission: android.permission.CAMERA
Purpose: Used to capture photographs of documents for scanning and PDF creation.
Storage Permission
Permission: android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on supported older Android versions.
Purpose: Used on compatible older Android versions to save generated documents or PDF files to device storage.
On newer Android versions, Android’s modern storage framework and platform restrictions may apply instead.
Internet Permission
Permission: android.permission.INTERNET
Purpose: Used when Internet connectivity is required for supported features, such as downloading OCR language data or other required resources.
Network State
Prime Scan may use network-state functionality provided by Android libraries or dependencies where applicable. Network connectivity information, if accessed by the application or its dependencies, is used to determine or support network-related functionality and is not intended to identify you personally.
9. Advertising and Analytics
Prime Scan’s privacy practices depend on the services included in the version of the App you install.
If Prime Scan does not contain advertising, analytics, or tracking services, the App does not use such services.
If advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or other third-party services are added in a future version, this Privacy Policy may be updated to describe the relevant data practices.
You should always review the current version of this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data Safety information associated with the version of Prime Scan you install.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by Prime Scan.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and for securely managing documents that may contain confidential information.
11. Children’s Privacy
Prime Scan is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so that appropriate action can be taken.
12. Your Choices and Controls
You can control Prime Scan’s access to certain device features through your Android device settings.
You may:
- Deny camera access, although this may prevent document capture functionality.
- Manage file and document access through Android’s system controls.
- Delete scanned documents and PDF files that you have created or saved.
- Uninstall Prime Scan from your device.
If you deny or revoke required permissions, some App features may not function as intended.
13. Data Deletion
Prime Scan is primarily designed to process and manage documents on your device.
You can delete documents and PDF files created or stored by Prime Scan using the App’s available deletion features or through your device’s file management tools.
If Prime Scan does not maintain user accounts or a remote server containing your personal data, there may be no separate online account or server-side personal data to request for deletion.
If a future version of Prime Scan introduces account-based or server-side data processing, appropriate data deletion options and instructions will be provided and this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable laws, or our privacy practices.
When we make changes, we will update the “Effective Date” shown at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how Prime Scan handles information.
